ACCREDITATION

The Applied English Linguistics MA program is accredited by the Ministry of Education with A grade valid from 27 December 2016 until 27 December 2021. (download here)

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

Successful applicants must (i) hold a Bachelors degree in English, in Education majoring in English, or in another field with a minimal GPA of 2.75, (ii) have a TOEFL prediction score of 500 or more, and (iii) sucessfully pass an English language entrance test.

ENROLLMENT

Students can request an application form at any time for the Ganjil semester (which starts in August and ends in December) or the Genap semester (which starts in January and ends in May). New students are admitted for the Ganjil semester from February to June and for the Genap semester from September to November.

CLASS MEETINGS

Classes meet Monday through Thursday from 4.30 p.m. until 7.15 p.m. Fridays are reserved for make-up classes and other activities.

TUITION AND FEES

The tuition and fees for the academic year 2013/2014 are IDR 33.150.000 for the first four semesters course work. The above figure is to be used as a guideline, as adjustments may have to be made in subsequent years.

DEGREE AWARDED

Graduates are awarded the degree of Magister Humaniora (Master of Arts) in Applied English Linguistics.

MASTERS DEGREE CURRICULUM

The curriculum is designed in such a way that students learn about several applied linguistics subfields, most of which are concentrated in English linguistics. Students must take a total of 42 credits. To satisfy this credit requirement, students take twelve courses during the first three semesters (i.e., 4 courses per semester), amounting to 36 credits. In addition, there are 6 credits for thesis writing, beginning in Semester IV. Students are expected to complete the program, including the thesis, in two to four years.

Prodi S-2 LTBI Unika Atma Jaya mempunyai visi untuk menjadi pusat terkemuka dalam pengembangan linguistik terapan bahasa Inggris dengan memajukan pendidikan lanjut dan penelitian, serta meningkatkan interaksi profesional, baik yang bersifat intra-disiplin maupun yang antar-disiplin.

Misi Program Studi

1. Meningkatkan mutu keilmuan dan keprofesian sumber daya manusia di bidang linguistic terapan bahasa Inggris;

2. Mengembangkan iklim penelitian bahasa serta menyebar-luaskan hasilnya lewat pertemuan berkala dan publikasi;

3. Meluaskan kerja sama profesional antara sesama program studi linguistik pada taraf nasional dan intemasional.

Kompetensi Dasar Program Studi

1. Pendidik/Pengajar Bahasa Inggris dan/atau Ilmu Bahasa (Linguistik)

Pendidik/Pengajar yang mempunyai kompetensi atau kualifikasi untuk mengajar Bahasa Inggris dan/atau Ilmu Bahasa (Linguistik) di tingkat universitas.

2. Peneliti Bahasa dan/atau Pengajaran Bahasa

Peneliti yang mempunyai kompetensi untuk melakukan penelitian di bidang bahasa (linguistik) atau pengajaran bahasa dan mendesiminasikan hasil penelitian melalui publikasi jumal atau presentasi dalam seminar/konferensi ilmiah.
